SINGAPORE—(June 14, 2004)—Extended Systems, a leading provider of mobile application solutions for the enterprise, announced today at the CommunicAsia 2004 conference that it has signed an agreement with Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) to promote and resell the company’s OneBridge Mobile Solutions in Asia. ST Electronics is one of the leading technology integrators and providers in South Asia, with a strong presence in Singapore and greater China.
To capitalize on emerging mobile opportunities in the Asian markets, ST Electronics has created a Mobile Workforce Product Group to compliment its existing divisions. Extended Systems’ OneBridge Mobile Solutions platform is the flagship product for this group and will enable ST Electronics to offer mobile solutions to its existing integration projects. Utilizing OneBridge, ST Electronics will offer existing and future clients the ability to mobilize groupware and virtually any other enterprise application. The company has strong capabilities in electronics and systems integration as well as wireless communications, intelligent transportation and security solutions in the defense, commercial, industrial and financial industries.
ST Electronics provides a local engineering presence to customize, implement, and support end-users. “This was an incredibly important consideration for us,” said David Baldwin, director of Asia Pacific Sales at Extended Systems. “There is no question about ST Electronics’ leadership and capability in the engineering marketplace in Asia. We consider this to be a significant development for our company and believe this new relationship will take us to the next level in this geographic region. ”
“We aim to deliver innovative electronic solutions that will increase the acceptance and usage of wireless and mobile communication. In doing this we aim to exceed customer expectations and constantly create value for our stakeholders,” said Yong Thiam Chong, president of the Large-Scale Systems Group of ST Electronics. “Our relationship with Extended Systems will help us meet this goal in the mobile arena.”
Respondents to a recent Gartner Group Survey* anticipate large increases in spending on wireless data solutions in the Asia/PAC region beginning in 2004, led by wireless messaging and wireless e-mail applications in the developed markets.
